WooBits Hits the Air Waves, Again

Well, it’s been an interesting couple of weeks with the results of a single show last Tuesday. As you likely know, I travelled to the states for WordCamp US and had an incredible time. During WordCamp and post-WordCamp, I lost a bit of my voice, as well as others that had planned on being on the show. And upon returning this last Monday, well, the week flew by and here we are on Friday. Is this the Friday show? Could be if you want to label it. Right now it’s literally the show where I continue to juggle WooBits.

Now before I dive into that, watch next week for some great stuff coming your way via a few regular shows and some WCUS goodness. Although I planned on sharing my own thoughts and a few attendee reactions today, I’m shifting it to next Tuesday, after the holiday weekend in the US.

Also, going to start rolling out some of the cool stuff we will be doing over the next few months leading up to our release of 4.0 in December.

But for now, let’s talk WooBits.

I cannot actually remember when I started WooBits. But it has been through some changes, from a pseudo news like show, to an ecosystem wrapup and lastly landing as my newsletter I send out weekly. It’s one of those things that keep evolving to find its sweet spot.

Well, as you can expect, it’s time for a change again. Now first, I know that you email experts and marketing gurus are going to shudder when I tell you that WooBits is no longer the weekly newsletter it has been. In fact, no more so called newsletter. Instead, for those who have subscribed and those who do so in the future, will fall back on the good old RSS. In other words, when we publish, you get notified.

I am doing this for several reasons. First, our newsletter list has not grown much over time. Maybe it’s the fact that I keep clipping it clean with people who are not reading it. Or most likely it’s the efforts I choose to put behind our audio content vs. email content. For whatever reasons I have myself, moving forward I want to focus on the podcast, because that is what people expect from Do the Woo. Thus WooBits will now become a weekly show. And let’s say it will be a mix of everything I have done with it in the past, and some fun stuff in the future. Doesn’t tell you much, huh? That’s okay. It will make more sense as we roll out things over the next few months.

And lastly, before I go, I would like to share something new we have brought to do the Woo. Or maybe I should say it’s just the beginning. What I have discovered over time is there are brands and individuals out there that want to support us at Do the Woo, but a sponsorship does not fit their budget and/or their marketing efforts. But as I said, they still wanted an option. So we created Community Friends. This support helps us with our global reach, accessibility and inclusion through our network of shows here at Do the Woo. You can support us yearly at either a $500 or $1,000 level per year. Aside from helping us grow our network, you will get your logo on our site, a link to your site, a public welcome on WooBits and some other surprises throughout the year. All you have to do is go here.

Speaking of, I would like to welcome these brands and individuals as new supporters. The WordPress agencies DevriX, WebDevStudios and WP Riders. Woo agency Neuralab. OSTraining for your educational needs and the WP World, one of the coolest resources for connecting WP peeps around the world. Also, YMIR for serverless dev ops, Barn2 Plugins covering some great Woo functionality, Guildenberg for product growth and Robert Jacobi, an industry strategist in the WordPress space.

Thanks so much for their support and helping us keep this podcast by the community, for the community, alive and vibrant.

So get ready come next week and we leave the summer month of August behind and start seriously doing some Woo.
