All I can say is, I love it.
During the State of the Woo yesterday via WooSesh, Tamara Niesen, Chief Marketing Officer at Woo unveiled the new logo that will be rolling out early 2025. Here is what Tamara said:
Tamara: The final piece we want to share is what the future of Woo looks like. We know that how we show up is really important, and we’ve been talking about quality, consistency, and focus. It’s also about how merchants will view the product when purchasing from builders or agencies, and how builders will evaluate when choosing a platform to build on. How we show up matters.
This is our current logo.

It has served us well for many years, and now we have the opportunity to evolve it so that it aligns with our vision, our high-quality product bar, and our path forward for growth. This also gives us an opportunity to stake our claim on who Woo is and why we’re the best platform for building successful businesses for the long term. Now, I’d love to share a glimpse of our visual identity and how we’ll continue to evolve.

Heading into 2025, early next year, we’ll be introducing a new Woo logo. It’s a signal of how we’re progressing as a business. The new direction is bold, it’s fresh, and it better communicates what we do and who we’re for. This will be more than just a logo. With this, you’ll also see our platform messaging, positioning, values, and voice all evolve. It’s a testament to evolving Woo’s experiences and claiming our space in the market as the best commerce platform for dynamic businesses, and we can’t wait to share more with you.
And during the Do the Woo Recap at WooSesh, this is the reaction from our hosts Courtney and Jonathan.
Jonathan:
I’m wearing my Do the Woo shirt, which is actually just the WooCommerce shirt that I wear when I do episodes of Do the Woo. I’ve always liked it. Automattic has always done a good job with the swag, and the Woo shirt was no exception. Today, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it is now a legacy logo design. We’ve got a new WooCommerce logo. What did you think of it, Courtney?
Courtney:
I like that it is bold. I think it maybe looks a little bit more grown-up, dare I say, than it used to. For those unfamiliar, if you’re listening to this episode, I’m not so sure you’d be unfamiliar, but the old Woo logo was kind of like a chat bubble that says “Woo” in it, often with purple and white as the branding colors. We see different shades of purple coming in, and we see that the “W” sometimes has the “O” beside it, and sometimes it animates into wheels, as if under a shopping cart. I enjoy the refresh. I have concerns about animated GIFs in the WordPress plugin directory to begin with. So, having it animate can be cool for video effects if you’re using it in a video, but envisioning how that’s going to look as a thumbnail in the plugin directory doesn’t solve my wish for getting rid of animated GIFs there. Otherwise, rave reviews!
Jonathan:
I’ve come to appreciate just how much is involved with a logo change; it’s a big deal. Back when I worked at WooCommerce a couple of years ago, they were talking about it then, so it’s fun to see it finally come to fruition. I’m also someone who generally likes change, so I like it objectively. It’s also going to be interesting; I feel some nostalgia already, like, “Oh, we’ve had this old logo for such a long time,” and I’ve felt an affinity for it because the Woo brand’s been around for so long. I think it’s a great change, and I’m excited to see how they roll it out. I like the flexibility of using the wheels; there are some interesting things you can play with in that design. So, congratulations to the WooCommerce team.
And here is my latest comment on it over on X.

Make sure and watch Woo as they will be sharing more about the new logo in the next couple of weeks.
