BobWP:
Hey everyone, BobWP here on Community. Well, this week I’m taking a break from production, aside from this episode, obviously, and it’s really a needed break. Now, some of you might assume that this is a result of all the things currently happening in the WordPress space. I admit there’s been a bit of a disruption in our schedule lately, and I feel for many of my host guests, friends, and others. But for me personally, since WordCamp US, I have had other things to deal with.
Now, it all started with my flight to Portland, Oregon, for WordCamp US. Halfway across the Atlantic, I got hit with a bad case of vertigo. Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced vertigo. If you haven’t, let’s just say, I hope you never do. And if you have, you know what I’m talking about. This was pretty severe when I was stumbling through the airport in Portland to get to the hotel or actually find a taxi.
So after spending 16 hours in bed in the hotel, the week was not only filled with the business of WordCamp US and seeing everybody and all those good times, but it was also recuperating for me, which wasn’t completely over by the time I flew back home. So between a long recovery from that and jet lag hitting me at both ends, I made it home and immediately got what we call the WordCamp crud. Not Covid, but this was a nasty one. So follow that up with a long recovery, visits to a doctor that specializes in vertigo tests, MRIs, and other fun stuff to rule out all the other things. In the end, I’m doing good, and this week I’m finally feeling human. I still need to do a few things over the next few months, medically wise, but doing good.
And oh, this old podcaster has discovered hearing loss and will be shopping for some hearing aids soon. I guess all those days of riding around in a van for hours with friends and the music blasting, plus those dozens and dozens of concerts in the 1970s… well, hey, they’re catching up with me. But life is what it is, and I’m not complaining—I would not have it any other way.
So this week I’m catching up on production and a few other odds and ends around Do the Woo. In fact, just a little teaser: we have a cool show coming out next week to tell you about our dive into the Fediverse with some special guests. So I need this week to do some catching up, and you won’t be hearing any other episodes coming your way the rest of this week, but I’m looking forward to getting back to my regular routine and schedule next week.
Also, if you haven’t seen it on the site—maybe some of you listen via your favorite pod app and don’t get to our site—we’re doing a lot of things there, including our Friday shares, which we introduced last week. Each week, we’ll be recapping in a blog post here on Do the Woo some of the stuff we’ve done. We’ll share resources, posts, and other content from the community, our hosts, sponsors, and partners. And it’s really meant to be a place to peruse quickly and see if you missed something of interest to yourself. So do check that out. I’ll make sure that goes out Friday, and that’s it.
Looking forward to getting back into the regular schedule, and we’ll talk to you next time.
