Of course, there are still opportunities for you to catch up on the sessions over the next week and our recaps, which I’ll talk about more at the end.
State of The Woo
WooCommerce has traditionally shared their State of the Woo at WooSesh, which this year kicked off the event first thing Tuesday.
But there are two things that I would like to share. The first being numbers. These kinds of number encapsulate a lot of what the year has held in an easy way. Think about these.
- 4.4 million plus live websites currently using Woo
- 33% of the top 1 million online stores are powered by Woo
- 8.9% of the internet is powered by Woo
- 270 million plus Woo downloads to date
- 908 products in the Marketplace
- 66 languages are supported.
Now during the State of the Woo there was a lot covered. Trends in eCommerce, the highlights of Woo over the past 12 months, Woo Express, the streamlining of the product experience and store design and customizations. Consider this one fact.
12 months ago it took 46 clicks to get into their product and now it’s 11.
What I love about the State of the Woo each year is that all of us grind along during the 12 months, and yes, we are enjoying the bits and pieces that have transpired. But this shows us just how far along the team at Woo has progressed and to be honest, I feel it’s always an eye opener.
So without diving into even more of not only the State of the Woo, let alone all the amazing sessions that were presented, if you missed any or all of them, don’t hesitate to catch up. If you are registered already, you have till next Friday to make sure and dive into them even more. And if you are not registered, and are listening to the day this is released, Friday, October 13th, it’s really your lucky day. You still have time to register till the end of the day.
Of course if you not only want to save these for later and get all the education plus the years of previous WooSeshes, you can simply join WP Sessions. Brian has a ton of educational content there for you.
The Seshies
The other thing I wanted to talk to you about was the Seshies. For the first time, WooSesh created a community awards ceremony to recognize and celebrate the best-of-the-best throughout the WooCommerce ecosystem.
From what I understand is there were a lot of nominations for all 6 categories, with both Honorable mentions and three finalists. But I would like to say that the team here at Do the Woo is absolutely honored to have been voted by the community as the WooCommerce Community Advocate of the Year. Now before I say anything more on that topic I would also like to congratulate the other winners
- Developer of the Year – James Kemp
- Agency of the Year – Maksimer
- Extension of the Year – WooCommerce Product Options
- Store of the Year – Barn2
- Innovation of the Year – SimpleDose
A virtual hug and round of beer to all of them.
I would like to note that James has been on our podcast a few times so would like to share those.
- Software Licensing Solutions for WooCommerce Builders with Anh, Phil and James
- IconicWP, Prospress Joins Automattic, 7-Star Reviews and More with Guest James Kemp
- Joining a Suite of eCommerce Solutions for WordPress with James Kemp and Zach Tirrell
- Woo DevChat, Building Products with James Kemp and Ross Morsali
Same with Katie from Barn2 and I will share those as well in our notes. In fact, Katie and her team won not only the Store of the Year but also builds the extension that won. Plus she recently joined the hosting team here on the Woo BizChat, so we could safely say she won three awards.
- Gutenberg Challenges WooCommerce Plugin Developers Face with Katie Keith
- Post-Black Friday with Katie Keith, Lesley Sim and Mark Westguard
- Welcome Katie Keith from Barn2 Plugins to the Do the Woo Host Team
And last but not least, Nils from Maksimer, who took the agency of the year, recently did a Woo Agency Chat with Alex from Inpsyde, who was also a finalist.
Looks like it’s all in the family here… well at least you can see how amazing this Woo community really is.
But without making it sound like some acceptance speech on an move, television or music awards show, I do have to share my personal thanks. First off, this award it all encompassing, and the hosting team here at Do the Woo deserves every bit of this award. Abha, Brad, Carl, Dave, Jonathan, Kathy, Katie, Marcus, Robbie, Robert, Ronald, Tammie and Zach.
You are truly what drives our podcast. And of course all of our sponsors, who make this possible. Avalara, A2Hosting, GoDaddy, Hostinger, Jetpack, Weglot and our newest sponsors, Dotstore and Omnisend, thank you so much. And of course you, our listeners and our guests. Your vote was so much appreciated but your story and voice is what brings life to each and every episode of Do the Woo.
Okay, I’m almost done with my thanks. Hang in there with me. A huge amount of kudos to Brian at WooSesh. Every year it gets to be a more amazing event and he works tirelessly to bring us an amazing Woo experience. And a ton of gratitude for brining us in as a community partner for the last two years. Looking forward to many more.
And if you have a chance, do check out WooSesh.com and note the sponsors who supported this community, this event and give them a shoutout.
And a special thanks to hosts Robert, Zach, Katie, Robbie, Marcus and Kathy for hosting the end-of the day recaps at WooSesh. All three shows, despite that fact they dragged me on one of them, was entertaining and insightful. In fact, you can expect to hear all three of them coming soon to our feed as episodes of Do the Woo. So watch out for that.
Well, I better leave it at this. It’s been a great week and so much is coming your way around the bend here at Do the Woo. So I hope you enjoy your weekend and thank you all for being a part of this amazing community.
