After that I was able to catch seven people before the second day ended and ask them what they loved most about WordPress Europe this year.

I will be honest, WordCamp Europe was a whirlwind. It took me 4 hours alone top make sure and get through the entire sponsor area. So my podcasting was limited as I spent most of the time in some really fantastic conversations with old and new friends. Oh, and yes, next up. WordCampUS.

Episode Transcript

Hi, I’m Christina with Hostinger and I’m from Leia, Europe.

If someone came up to your booth and said they wanted to build a site to sell miniature DJs playing their country’s national anthem but were having trouble selling them, what would you recommend they do first?

We definitely need to unleash our creativity first because we need to think about how we want to represent the idea. When we’re talking about the anthem, we should imagine it being super fast-paced, jazzy, bold, and catchy, something that sticks in your mind. This would be the first step to take.

I’m the CEO and founder of Vibe Studio, a WordPress agency based in Sofia, Bulgaria, but we work internationally.

Is there any single feature you still wish WordPress could do by itself?

WordPress is already feature-rich, and I believe in the concept that less is more. My idea is to keep it as clean as possible without overloading it with unnecessary features. We are maintaining a good balance with what we have and what we are developing.

I’m from Italy, but I live in London, UK. I work at Bantu, where we develop WordPress plugins, mainly WooCommerce plugins, but also non-WooCommerce plugins. I’m the head of development here.

If someone installed WooCommerce for the first time with no plugins, what would you recommend as the first thing they should add to their stack?

WooCommerce comes with its own setup wizard. By following WooCommerce’s instructions, you’re good to go. They even allow you to import sample products to test your store. These are the first steps you should take when you install WooCommerce.

Hi, I am with the LA Collective and I’m from Rotterdam.

When it comes to e-commerce sites, what do you think is the top priority for accessibility?

The top priority for accessibility is making sure the checkout process is accessible. You need to be able to put a product into your cart and check out using only a keyboard or a screen reader.

I’m the CEO of Great. We’re first-time sponsors this year with Great Suite, and it’s such an honor to be here.

What do you think is the function of a block that most people cannot live without?

I think it’s the button block. You can use buttons for everything: opening popups, sending emails, linking to other pages. So I would say the button block is essential.

I work for Blue House. I’m a full-time sponsored core contributor, and I’m from Boston, Massachusetts.

If someone is having trouble selling their crafts online, what would be your first words of advice?

The first step would be to think about who their target audience is. Make sure your content is targeting them correctly. You might have great products, but people need to know about them. It’s all about reaching your audience with the right content.

I am from Really Simple Plugins from the Netherlands.

I am from Instead WP from Bangalore, India.

If one of you didn’t know anything about WordPress, how would you explain why to use it?

If you want an online presence, go for WordPress. Create a website, and you’ll be able to manage it well.

If you’re looking for a website solution that can do anything you want, then WordPress is for you.

Hi, my name is Mo Mu. I’m with Crowds, and we are from Pakistan.

As a host, what is the most important thing for an e-commerce WooCommerce shop?

The most important thing is reliability. You have data for many customers, so you need security and reliability. If your store goes down, even for a minute, you could lose a lot of money. So reliability is crucial.

I work at Jetpack and I’m from Denmark.

If someone is worried about AI taking their job, what would you say?

You don’t have to fear AI right now. It’s not always accurate, and you need to verify the data. AI doesn’t have the human touch, so there’s still a place for humans.

I work for Automattic and I’m from England.

What do you think is the coolest thing about this year’s WordCamp Europe T-shirt?

The T-shirts have a great design that captures Greece. A lot of thought went into them, and they look really cool.

I am with My Quest to Teach. I’m from Jacksonville, Florida.

What do you think about the venue for this year’s WordCamp Europe?

I love it. It’s big enough to accommodate everyone. Even though it’s large, you can easily get to different vendor areas and lunch areas. There’s enough space, and the facilities are great.

I lead community and events at WooCommerce.

If someone was opening an olive oil Woo shop, what would be your first word of advice?

Join our community. We have many people in our Slack and Facebook groups who love Woo and run meetups all over the world. You’ll need resources and support, so get involved in our community right away.

Whether you’re just starting to build a Woo shop for a client or looking to expand or scale an existing site, an e-commerce hosting solution is there for you and your projects. Expand a client’s store with access to thousands of extensions or scale big time with conversion tools, multiple staff accounts, integrated POS, marketplace integrations, and discounted shipping rates. And if you manage the site or hand it over to the client, a single dashboard gives you powerful tools like online sales tracking and easy auto-sync for all inventory. Keep your client sites running smoothly with e-commerce hosting from GoDaddy at godaddy.com.
