A Do the Woo 2023 Update

/

This year we hosted 129 episodes and had 112 different guests on their podcast. We are planning to release Do the Woo 4.0 in March and will announce details in February. Part of the new version includes areadding more hosts, episodes, and live streams, and a plan to focus on building the story and narrative, extending global reach, and supporting the community in the new year. We are also starting a new YouTube channel. All of us here at Do the Woo are grateful to our sponsors, who help cover operating expenses and allow the podcast to continue.

ChatGPT is great, so great that is shared more than I wanted to share in what I had hoped with a more general summary.

Well, first off, Happy New Year to everyone listening. I’m kicking off the year with a show where I want to just update you on a few things here at Do the Woo.

The past is the past

Looking back on the year. As I wrote in a post over on BobWP I noted that I am not big on past year reflections, at least publicly. I think it’s because I am too focused on what is happening now and what will be. Those reflections are more intermittent with my day to day life. In other words, past reflections often come to me as I move ahead. Taking the time to write them down for a post or to do on an episode just seems to me to be too much.

Now I’m not dismissing other posts that do this. Hey, whatever works for you. I just don’t want your expectations on an in-depth look at 2022 to be a disappointment.

If I was to synopsize the year, I would say it was great, as far as Do the Woo. Personally, as with anyone living in these times, sure there are challenges. But also the fact that we made the decision to move to Porto, Portugal this year impacts the future, dare I say?

But let me share a fun fact on the year.

During 2022, my team of hosts and myself put out 115 episodes which gave you 3,538 minutes of conversation with 112 different guests. That’s some serious Woo, huh?

And a lot of what transpired in those conversations, and off-line, led to where we will be going into the new year.

Officially, unofficially Do the Woo 4.0 due in March

This is something you have heard me say before, as we are still working to get everything in place, including sponsors for 2023. And bear with me as I would like to thank them instead of injecting ad rolls this time around. Those whose sponsorships through October of last year were Jetpack, IconicWP, Klaviyo and Trustpilot. The sponsors we have currently that will be with us for sure through the next couple of months are FooSales, LearnDash, Dotstore, PeachPay, Weglot, GoDaddyPro, WP White Security, OSTraining, Yoast, Mindsize, NitroPack and Nexcess, with our two newest sponsors, Avalara and Hostinger.

I wanted to mentioned our sponsors and share my gratitude towards them as Do the Woo would not exist without them. This is my full time gig, and they not only help us with all the outreach we do, but they basically cover our operating expenses as well. I couldn’t Do the Woo without them.

So let’s get back to the new year and what we have planned. There is quite a lot and the details will be officially announced the last part of February.  I have tons of pages of notes and wanted to try to give it to you in a nutshell. So what did I do? I took one of the longer pieces and asked ChatGPT to summarize it. Now the hilarious part is the summary was done so well, that I am reluctant to share it as it still gives away too much, too early. But I gotta tell you, this ChatGPT intrigues me.

But back to the subject matter at hand.

Let’s just say we are looking at adding more hosts, more episodes, live streaming and stepping up to some community financial support. All of this centers around our three goals for 2023, building the story and narrative, extending global reach, and supporting the community.

Now I would start to feel really bad if I didn’t at least give you some more details on at least one part. This is something I hope really pans out and is going to take sometime. Earlier I contemplated how I could create a directory of builders, and I shuddered a bit when I repeated the word, directory. That isn’t what I want. It needs to be more than a resume, a sales page, or a bit of both. So after exploring the idea more, it occurred to me to revisit one of the goals I just mentioned, building the story and narrative. What if I build a directory of builder story profiles? And I start with the guests we have had on the podcast? Well, that’s all I am going to tell you for now, but let’s just say it will be a profile worth visiting.

So, with that said, I am looking forward to this year both with Do the Woo and personally. I sure hope you stick around with us and share it with your friends and colleagues. And make sure to tune into tomorrow on WooBits as I have yet another twist of what that show will be looking like soon and also I will share with you my reasons behind closing my old YouTube channel and now starting up another one.
