Do the Woo Rebrands as OpenChannels.fm, Expanding Its Focus

About OpenChannels.fm / Do the Woo

What started in 2016 as a solo podcast called Do the Woo has grown into OpenChannels.fm—a community-powered channel of shows that explore the open web. From WooCommerce and WordPress to the Fediverse and beyond, each version of our journey has added new voices, fresh perspectives, and space for builders, contributors, and creators to share what they’re doing and why it matters.

At OpenChannels.fm, we’re all about amplifying the voices shaping the open web. Whether it’s WordPress, WooCommerce, the Fediverse, or broader open source projects, our podcast shows and series dive into the ideas, tools, and people moving it all forward. From core contributors and indie product makers to agencies, developers, and curious creators, we believe everyone has a story worth sharing.

What makes us different? Our shows are run by volunteer hosts who bring their own flavor to the conversation. Each series is their own, built with flexibility and care, offering space for thoughtful, honest, and sometimes surprising discussions. We aim to explore topics that are well-rounded and introduce listeners to new perspectives they might not have encountered before.

We’re rooted in values of openness, belonging, and shared growth. That means supporting diversity and giving airtime to those who don’t always get the mic, but should. Because when more voices are heard, the open web gets stronger, more creative, and more human.

Seattle, WA — June 7, 2025 – After years of growth and transformation, the media platform formerly known as Do the Woo has officially rebranded to OpenChannels.fm, a name that better reflects its expanding lineup of shows and broader commitment to WordPress, open source, and the open web.

A New Name for a Wider Vision

Originally focused on WooCommerce and the builder community, Do the Woo has evolved to include a wide range of content. Over the last year, new shows such as Content Sparks and Scaling Enterprise OSS have brought in fresh perspectives and a more diverse set of topics for global listeners.

“The biggest change here is the channel and site name,” says BobWP (Bob Dunn), Founder of OpenChannels.fm. “All the content and hosts our listeners love are still here. We’re just giving them a space that reflects everything we’ve become.”

Do the Woo hasn’t disappeared—it lives on as one of the five core shows on OpenChannels.fm, now focusing exclusively on WooCommerce through its own suite of series.

Why the Rebrand?

The rebranding to OpenChannels.fm was driven by four key goals:

  1. Expanding Our Listener Base – Welcoming a broader, more diverse global audience.
  2. Connecting Ecosystems – Bridging WordPress with the wider open source and open web communities.
  3. Reaching Beyond WordPress – Introducing the innovation happening within WP to new audiences.
  4. Evolving Our Identity – Reflecting who we are now and what we’re building for the future.

What’s New for Listeners?

The restructured OpenChannels.fm website makes it easier than ever to find and subscribe to shows. With five core shows—each featuring multiple series and experienced hosts—the platform offers something for everyone interested in the intersection of WordPress, open source, and the open web.
