I feel this is one of those things that a lot of people say without thinking about it or even understanding what they have said. Let’s get real here. ‘Never’ is really powerful word. Especially for content creators in tech.
Of course you may have a logical reason for saying it. Someone might ask, “Do you think you will ever murder anyone?” Well, for some, morally you would save ‘never’ but even then, can you be rest assured of that?
But where I see it being abused the most is when people are talking about their company, their business, their work. Setting parameters in your own mind.
I will never use a pagebuilder on my WordPress site.
I will never let AI write a post for me.
I will never accept sponsorships for my podcast.
I will never create a video cover of me with my mouth wide open, looking surprised and pointing at a hyped up title.
And there are so many professional fields where this applies. Things change and more and more they move fast. Content creators never know what’s around the next corner.

The point here is that I am very careful about using the phrase.
A good example is video. Two thoughts here.
First, I am not a fan of being on video. I’ll do it, but that’s just me. And likely I would not say “I will never be on video again.”
Secondly the production word around video and having them on your site here. We have brought in video and then ended up going back to audio. It sometimes seemed like one needs to be all in, or not.
I see some barriers.
A lot of people are not comfortable or it may be culturally awkward for them. Or maybe they don’t have the right equipment or live somewhere that doesn’t provide enough bandwidth or simply, they cannot afford fast internet.
On my side it’s the extra work in production and marketing that seems to get in the way. And live streaming. Well that’s another thing altogether.
But I never said never on videos. As you may have witnessed here if you are a long-time listener.
Which brings me to the fact that you might have already heard this on this episode.
