Do the Woo is Headed to State of the Word 2023 in Madrid

Which in turn means I am going again this year. And word has it that there is a good chance you will be also seeing Do the Woo host Robert Jacobi there as well. If any of our other hosts are going, I have yet to hear.

Personally, I have been very lucky to have gone to all the State of the Words. The first one was given at the first WordCamp US in Philadelphia in 2015. It continued until three years ago, in 2020, when it was moved as a stand-alone event at the Automattic/Tumblr office in New York City. That year I made a whole event of it by traveling across country from Seattle, Washington via the train. That was quite the adventure and you can read about it more here.

The next year it was again held in NYC, and this time I opted cross-country via plane.

This year it’s almost in my backyard, a 1 hour and ten minute flight to Madrid, Spain.

So again, I am lucky to have the resources to attend thanks to all my sponsors. And am looking forward to it once again. Also, I am excited Matt chose the vibrant Spain WordPress community to visit and share the State of the Word. That community has done amazing things with meetups, WordCamps and yes, WordPress in general. I was able to attend WordCamp Madrid about a month ago, and was lucky to have three community members from Spanish community do a podcast at WordCamp US earlier this year.

My plans for Madrid

The day before the event I will be doing something special for the launch of Do the Woo 4.0 that will be seen publicly sometime after our launch.

I am also hoping to do a podcast or two while I’m there, but we will see on that.

And if I’m lucky, I plan to bring my Rode Go Pros to the event, and after Matt gives the SOTW, I may be able to get some onsite reactions and comments. Wish me luck on that.

So if you are going to be there in person, please let me know. And for all of those planning and attending watch-parties, see you online!
