commentary
I am guessing that you are thinking I am going off on AI on this one. Well I’m not. In fact I am an advocate of blending all things AI and the human touch, with much more weight on the latter.
A few things have led me to this post and why I just need to write here more sans AI.
What I am most proud of is the fact that everything that is published here is human touched first, then a variety of derivatives of that is produced via AI. In the days of old, we called it “repurposing content”. Now AI has made that easier.
Our sponsors keep the lights on.
Take a moment to check them out.

Omnisend just dropped SMS pricing to $0.007, and their migration team moves your automations, templates and contacts in five days, free. That means you could be saving up to 35% in less than a week. Use the code OpenChannels and get 30% off your first 3 months of any paid plan.

If you build stores for clients, WooCommerce gives you the flexibility to create exactly what merchants need. Customize workflows, extend with thousands of integrations, and scale without switching platforms. Check it out at WooCommerce.com.
To get a better idea of what I’m talking here, I’ll break it down.
All episodes are generated by humans. And mighty fine humans at that. Even with the direction of AI podcasts looming in the darkness. This is our main content, obviously, and will remain as such for the life of Open Channels FM.
With production, there are a lot of tools that help you enhance the sound, remove echoes, remove ums and ahs, shorten long pauses automatically, etc., etc. I use a small part of these sparingly and carefully, if at all. But to be honest, I love the human language with all of its nuances and by eliminating too much, you lose the human voice.
But as far as the content itself, within all those episodes there are tons of gold nuggets shared by a lot of smart people. They are always hard to find and when you are listening, some fly by before you know it.
To be transparent, although I am not fond of how that word has evolved, we use a tool to generate a lot of, well, do I dare call it repurposing.
With each episode we are able to build our show notes with an intro, takeaways, questions that were answered, mentioned links, timestamps and yes, of course, a transcript. When other podcasters feel I might be giving too much away and I’m missing “one more listen metric”, I feel differently. When someone chooses to go to our site and the post, I want them to absorb what content they want in the format they want, audio or written.
From there, additional content is generated. A blog post that drills down to a specific topic of the conversation. Our BackTalk posts and newsletter where we pull out some stand-alone quotes that share tips and insights from our hosts and guests. And on that same track, an article on LinkedIn that highlights a longer quote from an episode.
It’s all about giving you content in various ways to help you get as much (or as little) out of any given episode.
Which leads me to this post. I have been thinking I need to write a weekly commentary post coming from my head and heart, and through my fingers, which is what I will call the human touch. No voice to text. No AI assistance at all. I’m not choosing this on some anti-AI skepticism, nor for any other reason.
Aside from the fact that I just want to do it. ~b
